Real Life Wedding: Tim & Jennifer - MUD Urban Flowers

Real Life Wedding: Tim & Jennifer

Last year we had the pleasure of designing wedding flowers for Tim and Jennifer. We caught up with the happy couple recently to find out more about their big day!

How Did You Meet? Tell Us A Little About Your Love Story.

We met sitting opposite each other in Wetherspoons! Tim’s best friend (our best man) used to work with Jenni and had invited out a few friends for a drink when he was visiting Glasgow. We found we had a lot in common and instantly got on really well - we’re both musicians and both studied at the same Conservatoire but at different times.

What's your favourite flower?

How did you decide on the theme of your wedding?

We didn’t really have one - it was very loosely based on pinks, greens and whites.

What made you pick the Cathedral/Trades Hall? Would you recommend this venue?

Tim has sung in the choir at Glasgow Cathedral for a number of years and we visited several times. It was naturally our first choice for the ceremony as we both wanted a religious service with choral and organ music during the ceremony. The musicians were guests at the wedding, so having them play and sing on the day made it more special. We also knew the minister (Mark Johnstone) who put us at ease, made us laugh and is fantastic celebrant. His ceremony was a highlight of the day.

We were keen to have a central reception venue for our guests and something near to the Cathedral. We viewed around ten different reception venues in Glasgow but Trades Hall was by far the best as it had everything we needed and is such a beautiful building. The main room is stunning and we really liked Laura (the wedding coordinator there). It was the perfect location and within budget.

Favourite vendors? Anyone you would definitely recommend?

Jen Mathieson (Hair and Makeup) did such a fantastic job and was such a lovely and calming presence on the wedding morning. Also - Laura and all the staff at Trades Hall were so helpful throughout the planning process and the reception ran seamlessly on the day. Fotomaki were brilliant, not only photographers but all the little extra touches and support. Scotia Ceilidh Band were fantastic also not only as a band but also as a DJ. And Mud Urban Flowers of course!

Did you Honeymoon? If so, where and would you recommend?

We went to New York and Washington D.C and whilst we had a fantastic time, its not the most ‘relaxing’ of holidays as they’re very busy cities with lots of walking and sight seeing. If you want a beach holiday, we recently went to Greece (Neoi Poroi) which was much more relaxing!

Top tip for couples planning their wedding right now...

Plan thoroughly and well in advance - that way know everything will run like clockwork on the day and you can just enjoy it. Trust the professionals.

Stick to your budget and set aside a little for additional extras that you originally didn’t consider. On the day, enjoy every moment as the day goes very quickly!

Looking back, would you do anything differently?

No. To us, it was perfect.

Why did you pick MUD as your wedding florist and would you recommend us?

The online reviews we read were invaluable in helping us make the right decision. We wanted simple but beautiful flowers and after a lot of searching and expensive quotes we found MUD Urban Flowers who gave us exactly what we wanted at a fair price. Ordering the flowers online was also a very straight forward process.

What was the biggest splurge on your Wedding day? e.g. did you go all out on the food, or the DJ or maybe your outfit? Was it worth it?

The reception venue cost us the most but this included everything (stationary, food, table decorations etc) so it was well worth it - excellent value.
